Babloo Srivastav sent in 20-day police custody
New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) A city court today sent mafia don Babloo Srivastav in 20-day police custody in a MCOCA case for running an extortion racket in the national capital.
Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur after hearing the argument of the defence and the prosecution sent Babloo in police custody.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court denied a stay on Babloo's arrest in the case.
Babloo had been apprehending arrest since a sessions court issued a production warrant against him on July 25.
On May 11 this year, the Delhi Police had moved an application before the court for the issuance of a production warrant against Babloo to book him under MCOCA.
Lodged in Bareilly jail since extradition from Singapore in 1995, he was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) by the special cell of Delhi Police for allegedly running an extortion racket in the capital during 1983-97.
Babloo is an accused in more than 40 criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion and robbery in different parts of the country, including the national capital.
