Visitors scurry from landmark building following sudden fire

Bangalore, July 26 (UNI) A large number of visitors ran out from the landmark 'Utility Building', in the up market Cantonment area, after a fire broke out in the first floor of the 28-storied structure.

Ten fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames before it could spread to other floors. No casualities were reported in the incident, fire officials said.

The fire, suspected to have been caused due to a short circuit, in the vegetarian restaurant in the first floor of the building housing prestigious showrooms and offices.

Shankar Nag Theatre, adjacent to the restaurant that was being renovated was also damaged.

The loss in the mishap was being estimated. Traffic in the busy Mahatma Gandhi road was thrown out of gear following the fire.
