Visitors flee landmark building following fire
Bangalore, July 26: A large number of visitors ran away from the land mark 'Utility Building', in the up market Cantonment area, after a fire broke out in the first floor of the 28-storied structure.
Ten fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire before it spread to other floors. No casualities were reported in the incident, Fire Force officials said.
The mishap, suspected to have been caused due to a short circuit, caused fire in the vegetarian restaurant in the first floor of the building housing prestigious show rooms and offices. Shankar Nag Theatre, adjacent to the restaurant that was being renovated was also damaged.
The extend of damage was being assessed. Traffic in the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road was thrown out of gear following the fire mishap.
