Vice Adm Dewan is New Chief of Personnel at IHQ Mod (Navy)

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) Vice Admiral DK Dewan today took over as Chief of Personnel of the Navy.

A Gunnery specialist and Graduate of the Joint Staff Course, Paris, and the Royal College of Defence Studies, London, Vice Admiral Dewan is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla.

The officer was promoted to Flag rank in November 2003 and has held the appointments of Senior Directing Staff (Navy) at the National Defence College and Flag Officer Commanding - Maharashtra Area (FOMA).

Vice Admiral Dewan was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral on March 20 last and was presently posted as Controller of Personnel Services (CPS) at Navy HQs here.

The Flag Officer has had wide national and international exposure and has experience in various fields such as operations, international relations and defence planning.

Having done his sea service on seven different ships, Vice Admiral Dewan took up the duties of Deputy Director Naval Plans at the Naval Headquarters and managed the naval budget for four years.

After promotion to Captain in 1994, he served as Captain LWT (East), Command Gunnery Officer (Western Naval Command), Naval Assistant to Chief of the Naval Staff and Senior Instructor (Navy) at the National Defence Academy, Pune.

In December 2002, he was appointed Principal Director Naval Plans at the Naval Headquarters and was responsible for plans, foreign cooperation and budget.
