Tribals in pathetic condition despite having land holding: Brinda

Ranchi, Jul 26 (UNI) Expressing concern over conditions of tribals in the country CPM Polit Bureau member and party MP Brinda Karat today said they were working as labour class despite being plenty of lands with them.

Addressing the two-day workshop organised on tribal rights and problems, Ms Karat said more than eight crore tribals were working as labourers despite having ample piece of land with them.

Ms Karat said tribals who prefer to live in their natural ambience were forced to leave their places as rights of their lands were given to multinational companies for mining.

Refering to various Central welfare schemes, Ms Karat said that the beneficiaries were far away from them.

Tribal rights, various Union government's policies for uplift of tribals and issues like displacement would also be discussed in the workshop which would conclude tommorrow.
