Rs 146 crore for Solid Waste Management Scheme in UP

Lucknow, July 26 (UNI) Under the Solid Waste Management Scheme of Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 146 crore for five cities of Uttar Pradesh.

UP Urban Development Minister Nakul Dubey here informed that the five cities are Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut and Mathura. These cities have been provided Rs 10.3 crore as State's contribution for Solid Waste Management Scheme.

Kanpur's Solid Waste Management Scheme has a cost of Rs 47.8 crore, followed by Lucknow Rs 34.9 crore, Mathura Rs 13.07 crore, Agra Rs 27.5 crore and Meerut Rs 22.59 crore.

The minister added the firms had already been selected. Ra'mke' firm will implement the scheme in Kanpur, while M/s Garware in Lucknow. Ion Exchange will implement the scheme is Meerut and Mathura and M/s SPML in Agra.

Mr Dubey has directed the departmental officers to prepare a time-bound schedule for completion of the project and also instructed them to ensure early initiation of the works in these cities.
