Rivers' fury continue in UP, 3 killed in rain triggered incidents
Lucknow, July 26 (UNI) Even as the fury of prominent rivers continue in Uttar Pradesh, three people were reportedly killed in rain triggered incidents today.
Mau had been receiving incessant rains for the last four days now. Three people were killed and six others severely injured in separate incidents when a dilapidated wall ofthe house collapsed in Ranipur and Dakshin Tola areas respectively.
With parts of the state witnessing considerable amount of downpour, the fury of turbulent Ghagra, Kuano, Sharda, Rapti, Ram Ganga and Gandak rivers is continuing.
While, Kuano river was flowing 77 cm above the red mark at Chandradeep Ghat, Ghagra was 15 cm and 17 cm above the danger level in Algin Bridge and Ayodhya respectively, Met spokesperson told UNI here.
Sharda was flowing 38 cm above the red mark in Paliakalan, it was 5 cm below the danger mark in Sharda Nagar.
According to reports, Ganga, Yamuna, Betwa, Ram Ganga, Rapti, Sharda, Ken Sai and Gandak rivers were on the rise.
The swelling rivers of the Basti district have posed flood threat to 59 villages and affected more than 15,000 locals. Besides, 7,000 hectares of crop had been destroyed in Bhanpur tehsil.
Several remote areas were inundated, while the low lying urban areas were waterlogged making the life miserable.
Flood threat haunts almost 70 villages of the Harraiya Tehsil due to sharp rise in the water level in the turbulent Ghagra and Manorma rivers. Besides, 35 villages of the tehsil had been delinged, while seven were facing threat from the Kuano river.
Several villages have been affected following erosion in Sharda river and people have started migrating, a report from Lakhimpur Kheri said.
Meanwhile, Katarnia Ghat, Khadda and Deoria recorded the maximum rainfall at 12 cm each, followed by Basti 8 and Bhinga 5.
The delayed monsoon has also become active in Allahabad, Sitapur, Barabanki, Bahraich, Gonda, Faizabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Shajahanpur, Bareilly and Moradabad providing relief from the seeltering heat conditions prevailing for last few of days now.
The weathermen have forecast heavy rainfall in all divisions of UP in the next 24 hrs.
