Oppn stages walkout over Munnar title deeds
Thiruvananthapuram, July 26 (UNI) The Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala today staged a walkout in the State Assembly, alleging that the Government was trying to give legal validity to title deeds that were distributed earlier in violation of the existing norms.
Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy alleged that the Government's move was to protect the offices of the CPI(M) and the CPI in Munnar from demolition.
Earlier, replying to a submission, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said the Government would continue to evict those who possessed land in violation of norms.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan also clarified that those title deeds approved by the Land Assignment Committee would have legal validity. ''If anyone had issued title deeds without the approval from the Committee, it will not have any validity and there is no change in the Government stand on this issue,'' he added.
