MP Govt not considering purchasing milk at higher price
Bhopal, July 26 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Ramakant Tiwari today told the Assembly that the government was not considering purchasing milk at a higher price and selling it through the Milk Federation in a bid to conserve cows.
Mr Tiwari gave the information in a written reply to Mr Ramdayal Prabhakar's question whether the government was planning to purchase milk at Rs 50 per kg and 'ghee' at Rs 500 per kg and sell it through the Milk Federation.
He said the state had 1.89 crore cows with Bhopal having at least 1.34 lakh cows and Sidhi district having most 97.80 lakh cows.
In a reply to Mr Prabhakar's another question, Tribal Welfare Minister Jagdish Deora said more than Rs 14 crore was given in more that 8,500 cases under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the past two years.
