Maj Gen KJS Oberoi appointed Military Secretary to President

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) Major General KJS Oberoi, who is General Officer Commanding Delhi Area, has been appointed as the Military Secretary to the President.

The government today appointed Gen Oberoi and five other officials to the President's Secretariat, for a period co-terminus with Ms Pratibha Patil's tenure, an official statement said.

Mr Barun Mitra, a 1987 batch IAS officer, who was presently Joint Secretary in the President's Secretariat, would continue as in the post in relaxation of the tenure norms.

Mr V T Singh, a 1985 batch IFS officer, would serve as Social Secretary, and Mr F A Kidwai, 1996 batch IAS officer, and Mr Vishal Chauhan, 1998 batch IAS officer, as Deputy Secretaries.

Mr Christy Leon Fernandes, a 1973 batch IAS officer, had already assumed charge as Secretary to the President.
