Left parties force adjournment of AP Assembly

Hyderabad, July 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for a brief period today as the opposition Communist Party of India (CPI) and CPI (Marxist) stalled the proceedings over the land issue.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the notice of an adjournment motion given by the Left parties on land related issues.

Following this, members of the Left parties rushed to the well of the House and obstructed the proceedings.

As repeated appeals to restore order fell on deaf ears, the Speaker announced adjournment of the House for 15 minutes.

The Speaker also disallowed the notices of adjournment motions by the TDP and TRS on issues relating to Singareni Collieries, All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on implementation of the Sachar Committee report and Prime Minister's 15 point programme for upliftment of minorities, the BJP on categorisation of SCs and Janata Party member K Ramulu for a hospital for beedi workers in his home constituency of Metpally.
