JMM to field Suman Mahto as party candidate for bypoll

Jamshedpur, Jul 26 (UNI)Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today named Suman Mahto, the widow of slain Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto, as the party candidate for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha byelection, slated for August 29.

Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sudhir Mahto told UNI from Delhi that the party leaders had unanimously chosen Ms Mahto as the candidate for the prestigious seat.

The bypoll was necessitated after assassination of Sunil Mahto by the naxals on March 4 at Bhaguria village in East Singhbhum district.

Mr Mahto said Suman Mahto would file her nomination on August nine.

He said the party would convene a meeting on August seven here to chalk out the strategy for the bypoll.

Apart from Mr Mahto, the prominent leaders like Hemlal Murmu, Champai Soren, Mohan Karmakar and Suman Mahto were among those, present in the meeting.
