Jharkhand Front to contest Jamshedpur bypoll
Jamshedpur, Jul 26 (UNI) The Jharkhand Front had decided to contest the August 29 Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll.
The Front comprised the Jharkhand Peoples'Party (JPP) and Naren and Horo factions of the Jharkhand Party(JP).
Addressing newspersons here today, Front convenor and general secretary of JPP Surya Singh Besra said the name of the candidate would be announced at the Front's convention on August seven here.
Mr Besra said the people of Jharkhand had seen the rule of both NDA and UPA in the past seven years and they were fed up with them as the alliance had failed to contribute for the development of the state.
Mr Besra claimed that the people would go for a change this time and they would give chance to the parties, which contributed in the Jharkhand movement and had not severed tie with the grassroot people.
He said parties like the Jharkhand Janvikash Morcha and the Jharkhand Janadhikar Morcha had given its consent to join the Front.
Mr Besra said the exodus of adivasis from their homeland had become the matter of concern.
He said about one lakh adivasis were fleeing every year from Jharkhand to other states for their bread and butter.
He also expressed concern over the switching of the adivasi leaders to other parties for their narrow political gain.
Mr Besra had pointed out to Salkhan Murmu, who recently joined the Bahujan Samaj Party.
'' The adivasi leaders should remain united at this time of crisis, '' he said.
Other convenors Shailendra Maithy, general secretary JP (Naren) and C R Majhi, executive president of JP (Horo), said the Front would continue to fight for ''Jal, Jangle and Jamin'' and even if the Front candidate failed to win the election, the Front would send message for the justice to the people of the soil.
'' We'll not remain mute spectators and continue fight for cause of the Jharkhandis, '' Mr Majhi added.
