Haryana to have War Memorials in all districts
Chandigarh, July 26 (UNI) Haryana will have the distinction of being the first state in the country having War Memorials in each of its 20 districts.
It has been decided that War Memorials would be constructed in all district headquarters, an official spokesman said after a meeting of Haryana Defence and Security Relief Fund Committee held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.
As many as 15 War Memorials already exist in 12 districts of the state with two such Memorials each situated in Bhiwani, Jhajjar and Rewari districts.
The construction work of War Memorials in the districts of Sonepat, Sirsa and Panchkula was under progress. Similarly, the construction work of War Memorials in the remaining districts of Panipat, Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Fatehabad would also be taken up soon, the spokesman said.
It was also decided in the meeting to double the financial assistance provided to the war widows, 100 per cent war disabled ex-servicemen and war mothers for the construction and repair of their houses from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000.
The State Government had already enhanced the income slab for the grant of this financial assistance from Rs 36,000 to Rs 75,000 in the last meeting of the Committee.
The budget of Sainik Parivar Bhawan was also increased from Rs 1.30 crore to Rs 1.60 crore for the current financial year to provide better facilities to the wards of servicemen and ex-servicemen.
Sainik Parivar Bhawans were running job oriented courses for the dependents of servicemen and ex-servicemen so as to make them self reliant. The programmes being run by Sainik Parivar Bhawans included training for computer operator and programming assistant, steno in Hindi and English, cutting and sewing and fashion technology.
