Farmers protest against Chamlapura Thermal Power Plant
Mysore, July 26 (UNI) More than 150 farmers, including women from H D Kote taluk were taken into custody when they resorted to a 'rasta roko' in front of a function in which Union Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar was participating.
The protestors wanted to submit a memorandum to Mr Pawar to convey their protest against the Karnataka Government's proposed Chamlapura Thermal Power Plant.
However, police gave permission that only three among the agitators could meet Mr Pawar and submit the memorandum. But the farmers demanded that all of them should be allowed to meet the Union Minister.
