Canadian and Indonesian companies gather data for oil reserves
Samastipur, Jul 26 (UNI) Two leading Canadian and Indonesian companies today carried out three underground explosions at Dehuli village in Samastipur district for detecting the petroleum reserves in north Bihar.
Canada's Grand Geo-Physical and Ken of Indonesia have handed over the related data to state energy minister Bijendra Yadav.
''Both the companies have carried out these explosions in presence of Mr Yadav following satellite indication of possibilities of oil reserves in some districts in north Bihar,'' project officer Indrajeet Banerjee said.
He said a comprehensive map covering the areas from Madhubani to Samastipur districts had been prepared on the basis of data sent by the satellite and preliminary survey was being carried out.
Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had launched the survey at a function in Patna.
