Buddhadeb expresses "sorrow" over remark on Partha Chatterjee
Kolkata, Jul 26 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today expressed ''sorrow'' over his remarks on Trinamool Congress Legislative Party leader Partha Chatterjee regarding industrialisation in the state and appealed to the party to join the proceedings of the House.
Replying to the debate on the budgetary proposals for the state Home (P&AR) department, Mr Bhattacharjee, also the Home Minister, said he wanted the Trinamool Congress' participation in the industrialisation process of the state and was ''sorry'' if his remarks hurt the party.
'' I am sorry if my comments hurt the Trinamool Congress and at the same time appealing to the party to withdraw their boycott of the House and join the session of the Assembly, '' the Chief Minister said.
Without naming Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, while replying the debate on the budgetary proposals for the state Home (Police) department on July 12, Mr Bhattacharjee had asked Mr Chatterjee whether he was ''scared'' of the party high command in regard to participation in the industrialisation process of the state.
Mr Chatterjee, however, rejected the Chief Minister's appeal and asserted that his party would continue to boycott the proceedings of the House.
'' We are rejecting the Chief Minister's appeal and will continue to boycott the proceedings as there is no change on the part of the state government as well as the Chief Minister regarding industrialisation process of the state, '' Mr Chatterjee said.
