Bill to prohibit propagation of other religion adopted

Hyderabad, July 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Legislative council today unanimously adopted a bill empowering the state to prohibit propagation of religion in places of worship or prayer other than the religion traditionally practised at such places.

Introducing the bill in the House, Endowment Minister J Ratnakar Rao said the objective of the bill was to prohibit the propagation of other religion in certain notified places of worship mainly to ensure that the sentiments of any particular religious groups were not hurt and to prevent disturbance of public order.

All policital parties, including the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) unanimously supported the bill.
