Bharti Airtel net jumps 42 pc to Rs 1413 cr
New Delhi, July 26: Maintaining its strong growth momentum, Bharti Airtel Ltd today said its net profit jumped by 42.36 per cent to Rs 1,413 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 814.38 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
Its total revenue has increased by 35 per cent to Rs 5691.45 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 from Rs 3700.56 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
The consolidated results as per Indian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (IGAAP) saw the group's profit for the period at Rs 1424.22 crore for the quarter ended FY07 as compared to Rs 831.39 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
Its total income has increased from Rs 3815.49 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 to Rs 5873.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.
The consolidated results as per United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) pegged the group's net income at Rs 1511.6 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 755.09 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
Its total revenues is at Rs 5904.6 crore for the first quarter ended FY07 and grew by 53 per cent as compared to Rs 3856.36 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
Its EBITDA margins of Rs 2,447 crore grew by 63 per cent on a year on year basis.
Bharti has 4.5 crore customers, as on June 30, 2007, an increase in the total customer base of 82 per cent, over the corresponding period last year.
Commenting on the results and performance, company Chairman Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal said ''Bharti Airtel has maintained the growth momentum and further consolidated its market leadership in the wireless segment. We believe that the Indian telecom sector is entering the next phase of growth.'' Bharti's all India wireless subscribers is at 23.5 per cent as on June 30, 2007, up from 21.1 per cent in the corresponding period last year.
We will continue to expand our network aggressively to enhance penetration in the rural markets and be at the forefront of this growth, he added.
