12 injured as explosives catch fire in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, July 26 (UNI) More than 12 persons were injured in a blast in a house in Farukhnagar area here this morning.

The blast occurred at 0800 hours when explosive material kept in the house in the main bazaar area caught fire. Four other houses were also damaged in the blast.

Sources say many people in the area clandestinely indulge in the business of producing crackers. The house was filled with explosives used for making crackers which caught fire this morning, leading to blast.

Senior administration officers have reached the spot as the blast caused panic in the area.

Most of the injured were admitted to nearby hospitals while the seriously injured have been admitted to GTB hospital.

The District magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the clandestine operation of business of crackers in the area without license for the same.
