Transformer snag keeps West Bengal Assembly on hold
Kolkata, Jul 25 (UNI) West Bengal Assembly was adjourned today till 1230 hours because of power failure.
As soon as the proceedings of the house began at 1100 hours, Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim adjourned the house for 30 minutes till 1130 hrs.
As the electricity could not be restored, the speaker again adjourned the house for another hour till 1230.
Trinamool Congrees MLAs, who were boycotting this session of the house, entered the building with candles and urged the speaker to inform the house about the reason behind the power failure.
They also demanded resignation of State Power Minister Mrinal Banerjee owning responsibility for the snag.
Later, the speaker told the media persons that a transformer problem in the main house was the cause behind the disruption.
