SC directs Allahabad High Court to monitor cleansing of Gomti
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court to monitor the progress of River Gomti cleansing project.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari passed the transfer order after hearing counsel for the Centre who contended that the Centre has already released the money earmarked for cleaning River Gomti, which flows through seven districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The apex court then said it will be appropriate if the state High Court takes over the monitoring of the progress of the project.
