Release and repatriate a Pak national, release ten locals: J

Srinagar, July 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ordered immediate release and repatriation of a Pakistani national and quashed the detention of ten others under Public Safety Act (PSA).

The state had booked eleven persons, including a Pakistani National, under PSA for their alleged involvement in militancy related incident.

However, they challenged their detention and filed a writ petition in the High Court.

The High Court, after hearing arguments from prosecution and defence counsels, quashed the detention and ordered their immediate release in case they are not involved in any other case.

The court observed that the ground of their detention was not valid and the prosecution failed to prove the charges levelled against them.

The court also ordered immediate release and repatriation of one Ajaz Ahmad Bhat a resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan.

The others whose detention was quashed included Abdul Rashid Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Hilal Ahmad Wagay, Mohammad Ayoub, Naseer Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Yaseen, Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, Riyaz Ahmad Ganai and Tashkeel Ahmad.
