Photo electoral rolls may take one more month
Chennai, July 25 (UNI) The state election department today informed that the publication of final photo electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu is likely to take another month in view of the need for proper verification of the claims.
An official statement by state Chief Electoral Officer here said the claims received from those names, which were deleted while preparing photo rolls on the ground that they were not residing in the registered address, needed to be re-verified.
For preparing photo rolls, while the overall percentage of images captured in relation to electorate size was 94 per cent in the entire state, Chennai contributed 77 per cent, 85 per cent from Coimbatore and 87 per cent in Tiruvallur districts.
The coverage in Chennai had been low due to the fact that a large number of images were lost as there was no proper back up of images and also the serial numbers were not correctly marked on the photos.
