People's mandate for industrialisation in Haldia : Biman

Kolkata, Jul 25 (UNI) Congratulating the people for giving their verdict in favour of the Left Front in the Haldia municipal elections, Front chairman Biman Basu today said people wanted industrialisation and hence rejected the opposition miscampaigning against it.

The Haldia Municipal election was held on August 10 and out of 26 seats, the ruling Left Front bagged 19, the Trinamool Congress six and PDCI one respectively for which results had been declared this morning.

'' It was the mandate for industrialisation and people want it.

The people in Haldia washed out the opposition's one is to one formula and rejected the miscampaigning against industrialisation,'' Mr Basu said after the Left Front meeting here.

He alleged that some opposition parties did not want development of the state. Haldia's people have not votd them who have no idea about the government's polices on industry, politics, agriculture and economy.

'' We were satisfied with the elections results and now it is the state government's responsibility to set up industries,'' Mr Basu said.

To a query on why the party lost the Panskura seat, Mr Basu replied " we did not have the right consciousness and also failed to carry out the campaigning properly." Asked about how opposition wrested seven seats from the ruling government,he said " we would also like to know how it took place and would want it to be reviewed." UNI
