Mayawati sees road to women empowerment in Patil as President

New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) Mrs Pratibha Patil, who today assumed office as President of the country, received compliments over her elevation from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, who had herself struggled hard to reach the place where she is today.

The BSP supremo congratulated Mrs Pratibha Patil, saying her election to the top post was a great step forward towards empowerment of women.

Ms Mayawati presented a bouquet of flowers to Mrs Patil at Rashtrapati Bhawan soon after she was sworn in at a glittering ceremony.

Describing Mrs Patil as "a talented, gentle, cultured and dedicated public servant", Ms Myawati expressed the hope that during her tenure the country will see all round development, and women will get their due.
