Bangalore, July 25 (UNI) Karnataka Water Resources Minister K S Eshwarappa today accused the Centre of showing step motherly treatment in taking up of irrigation projects under Prime Minister's Special package in Cauvery basin.

Replying to a query raised by Mr B Shivaram of Congress in the Legislative Assembly, the minister said that the Centre had written to the state government on July 19 for taking clearance from the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal for starting of six irrigation projects in the Cauvery basin.

The department had sent 17 projects to the Centre last year under the Special package, he said adding that six of them were located in Cauvery basin.

Some of the members said that the Prime Minister is visiting the state on August three and the state government should draw his attention in this regard.

The Minister agreed the suggestion and said would submit a memorandum in this regard to rectify the injustice done to the state.
