Govt must form Cabinet sub-committee to probe Swarup case: Deshmukh
Mumbai, July 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Legislative Council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh today directed the government to set up a Cabinet sub-committee to probe whether there had been a deliberate delay in investigating the corruption charges against former Films, Drama, and Cultural Development Corporation managing director Govind Swarup.
The directions were given during the Question Hour on a question raised by Nitin Gadkari (BJP), Madhukar Sarpotdar (Sena) and others.
Opposition members were on their feet demanding why there has been a delay in taking action against the former bureaucrat.
Pandemonium prevailed in the House over the issue and the House had to be adjourned for ten minutes.
Mr Swarup is embroiled in a corruption case to the tune of Rs 78 crores.
The Opposition demanded that the then chief secretary too should be made a party in the case as he had not take any action for nine months.
