Both accused in minor maid rape case arrested
New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) Police have arrested both the accused, including the 57-year-old employer, involved in raping a minor maid in C R Park area of South Delhi.
While Purushottam Sahdev, a senior deputy manager with public sector undertaking BHEL in Noida, was arrested from his Alaknanda residence, Abdul Gaffoor Mandal, owner of a placement agency was arrested from his Okhla office last night, said DCP (South) Anil Shukla.
The 14-year-old victim, who hailed from Nadia in West Bengal, had been working in Sahdev's place for the last one year.
Yesterday, in her complaint, the minor had alleged that she had been repeatedly raped by Sahdev and Abdul Gaffoor Mandal, owner of a placement agency in Okhla and one who got her the job, over the last one year.
She also alleged that Sahdev had unnatural sex with her.
Police had yesterday lodged a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC against Mandal and under Section 377 (unnatural sex) against Sahdev.
Meanwhile, sources said the girl was medically examined at about 0200 hrs today, despite the victim being made to sit at the police station since 1100 hrs yesterday.
Spokesman for the Bachpan Bachao Andolan, whose members sat on a 'dharna' at the police station yesterday to get justice for the victim, today demanded that a case under the Child Labour Act should also be slapped against the accused fro employing a minor.
