Berger Paints net up by 16 per cent
Kolkata, Jul 25: Berger Paints India Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 19.9 crore compared to Rs 17.2 crore in the first quarter of 2007-08, which is up by 16 per cent.
During the quarter, sales grew by 18 per cent to Rs 344 crores from Rs 291 crores in the corresponding period, last year.
The company's subsidiary, Berger Paints Overseas Limited, in Russia had commenced the commercial production.
Work for the dedicated automotive paint plant in Jejuri Industrial Area, near Pune was also on track.
The Company's joint venture with Nippon Bee Chemical Co. Ltd of Japan, in the form of BNB Coatings India Limited had been formed and would commence operation soon in the field of coatings used and applied to plastic substrate used in automobiles and parts.
Meanwhile, Berger has introduced the health and environment friendly "Breathe Easy" interior surface coating, which has a very low level of toxicity. The product carries an international green label certification.
