Arcelor Mittal to build 10 mn ton plants in India
New Delhi, July 25: World's largest steel maker Arcelor Mittaltoday said the capacity of the two proposed plants one each in Orissaand Jharkhand will be about 10 million tonnes per year.
''We have appointed consultants for the projects. Once thedetailed feasibility report is ready, we will decide the exactcapacity,'' Arcelor Mittal Chief L N Mittal said .
Disclosing his agenda, India-born billionaire said he will meet Chief Ministers of both the states during his present visit.
Mr Mittal demanded mines allocation of 600 million tonnes capacity each in Orissa and Jharkhand for the steel plant.
''We have got assurance from the Central and the statesgovernments and are confident that the firm will get support inallocation of iron ore mines for the steel plants, coal mines forsetting up captive power plant and land for the projects,'' Mr Mittaltold reporters here.
Showing his keen interest in the Chiria mines, he said, ''Everyonelikes to have Chiria mines.'' Commenting on the performance of itscompetitor Posco's proposed 12 billion dollars steel plant at Paradeepin Orissa, he said, ''In the last three years, Posco has made nosignificant development.''
