AIADMK leader criticises MPs on pvt med college conversion

Puducherry, July 25 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today strongly criticised the two Parliament members from Puducherry for their failure to take up the matter with the Union Government to prevent conversion of private medical colleges here into Deemed universities.

In a statement here, he pointed out that of the seven private medical colleges, four institutions had already obtained the Deemed university status and the remaining colleges were also making efforts in this direction.

The parliament members from UT had done nothing for the welfare of students to prevent the conversion of colleges into Deemed universities, the AIADMK leader said.

Mr Anbazhagan termed as 'ridiculous,' the statement of AICC general secretary V Narayanasamy that people in the Union Territory would lose faith in the Congress government, if it failed to get 50 per cent seats in private medical colleges.

Instead of getting 450 seats (50 per cent seats in all the seven colleges), the administration this year had obtained only 236 seats (26.22 per cent) of the total seats, thereby cheating the students, he said and claimed that already people had lost faith in the 'minority' Congress government in the UT.
