Srinagar, July 25 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a massive campaign to showcase hitherto unknown and virgin tourist places of the state to the outside world in a big way.

In this regard, a representative group of travel, trade, print and electronic media from West Bengal, would be taken to Gurez and Doodpathri to see the enchanting and mesmerising beauties of these new tourist destinations.

The representatives, who arrived here today, were told by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir to act as brand ambassadors of the Valley in their home state.

He said the Jammu and Kashmir government has embarked upon an ambitious programme to upgrade existing infrastructure at various tourist destinations of the state for the convenience of the visitors.

Mr Mir said a scheme was also on the anvil to upgrade and improve the condition of houseboats to provide deluxe accommodation to the tourists. New, hitherto unknown, tourist destinations of Jammu and Kashmir were being exploited to provide varied attractions to the visitors, he added.

Mr Mir called upon the visiting members of travel and trade from West Bengal to project the improved situation in Jammu and Kashmir in positive aspect in their state.

After assessing the situation, they should motivate fellow countrymen to visit the paradise on earth, he added.

The Minister said Jammu and Kashmir has trade and tourist ties with West Bengal since long, which need to be revived for the overall betterment of the two states.

He hoped that the visit and interaction of West Bengal travel group with the locals would pay rich dividends and go a long way in boosting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
