No right for Civic Bodies to interfere in academics: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, July 24 (UNI) The Civic Bodies have no right to interfere in the academic matters of educational institutions and the Kerala government has no intention to hand over the right to it, Kerala Local Self-Government Minister Paloli Muhammed Kutty told the state Assembly today.

Responding to questions from V S Sunilkumar (CPI) and others, the Minister said CIVIC bodies duty was to provide infrastructure facilities to schools and develop facilities for the smooth conduct of education.

The second phase of the people planning programme would be inaugurated in the next month.

The Minister clarified that due to some technical problems the government could not entertain hike in pension for Civic Body members.

The church in the state had resorted to protests against the government, alleging that the move of handing over educational institutions to the Civic Bodies was to interfere in the academic issues in educational institutions.
