MLC-Mohd Jani MLC elected Vice Chairman of AP Council

Hyderabad, July 24 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader Mohd Jani, was unanimously elected as the Vice Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council today.

The Coucnil Chairman Chakrapani announced the election of Mr Jani. He said 31 sets of nominations supporting Mr Jani were received.

Talking to newspersons here after assuming charge, Mr Jani said, ''My objective is to improve the dignity of the house to that level which will be appreciated by all people in the state.'' Stating that he would strive to unite all the members, including the opposition parties, Mr Jani said he would give priority to people's issues rather than politics during the discussions.

Mr Jani, who was also a journalist, was elected as MLA to the State Assembly in 1985 and 1989. He had also served as a minister from 1989 to 1991.
