Medical college to be set up in Kalpana Chawla's memory
Kurukshetra, July 24 (UNI) The Haryana government would set up a medical college in the memory of late Astronaut Kalpana Chawla at Karnal with the assistance of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
This was announced by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda after inaugurating the Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium constructed at a cost of Rs 6.60 crore here today.
The Planetarium had been constructed by the National Science Museum Council, Union Ministry of Culture and State Science and Technology Council, Haryana.
The Chief Minister said not only Haryana but the whole country was proud of her achievements. Kalpana would become a source of inspiration for the people especially to the students as they would derive inspiration from her life.
Mr Hooda exhorted the people, especially the students, to follow the cherished ideals of Kalpana Chawla and work hard with devotion and dedication to achieve success in life.
Kalpana Chawla's father Banarsi Das Chawla had become very emotional when he read out a letter written by her to the Director of Nehru Planetarium Delhi before going into the space.
He said Kalpana was always keen to know the mystry of stars and planets.
