Iranian Film Festival to begin in Mumbai from August 5
Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) In an attempt to promote world cinema, a city-based social organisation 'Enlighten' has tied-up with the Culture House of the Republic of Iran and Shringar Films in India to present an Iranian month beginning from August 5.
''The culture of Iran can be understood by their films. Their films are simple yet powerful. Critics now rank Iran as the world* most important national cinema, artistically, with a significance that invites comparison to Italian neo-realism and similar movements in past decades. Iranian cinema has produced filmmakers like Abbas Kiarostami and Majid Majdi,'' a spokesperson from Shringar Films said.
Screenings start from August 5 at Cinemax (Thane, Kandivli, Versova) and Sterling, Fort.
Some of the films which will be screened are 'The Father' and 'Baran' by the maverick genius Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi and 'Color of Paradise'. Fore more details people can log onto www.
