Aviva signs Indian bancassurance deal with Apex

LONDON, July 24 (Reuters) Aviva , the UK's largest insurer, said on Tuesday that its Indian joint venture had signed an agreement with Apex Bank that would give it access to a customer base of 5.7 million people.

Aviva Life Insurance, the firm's Indian joint venture with Darbur, has signed a deal that will allow it to sell life, pensions and unit-linked endowments through Apex Bank's 22 branches as well as 834 branches of District Central Cooperative Banks and 4,525 Primary Agriculture Credit Societies.

It will also offer micro-insurance products to farmers.

Aviva is India's largest bancassurer, with 30 distribution deals, it said.
