4 KMT employees suspended in Rs 73.13 lakh diesel scam

Kolhapur, July 24 (UNI) Four employees of the Kolhapur Municipal Transport (KMT), an undertaking of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC), have been suspended for their alleged involvement in Rs 73.13 lakh diesel scam in the undertaking.

Addressing reporters here today, KMC Commissioner Kunal Kumar said the four suspended employees include Gangaram Shripati Vhatkar (store-purchase officer), Vijay Bagadi, Jayaji Kurne and Dhairshil Mane, all clerks.

Apart from the suspension, four show cause notices were issued to two more employees -- Mahadev Sawant (works manager) and Shankar Gadgil (a retired employee), he said.

All of them are primarily involved in about 1,98,575 litres of diesel scam in the undertaking, he said, adding, he has registered criminal cases against Vhatkar, Kurne and Bagadi.
