UP police team assaulted by MP villagers
Morena, MP, July 23 (UNI) A sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured and their AK-47 assault rifle and revolver looted by some villagers who assaulted an Uttar Pradesh Police team that was in this district's Karaula village to search for ruffians accused of abduction.
Sub-Inspector Susheel Kumar and constable Devendra were admitted to Gwalior divisional headquarters' Jayarogya Hospital after last night's incident.
Police said the team was investigating an abduction case from Jalaun. Villagers became incensed when they allegedly observed a few women being taken away by the team.
''The weapons were recovered after a raid at Karaula,'' Morena's Superintendent of Police Harisingh Yadav said today.
