Tibetans in Karnataka launch Hunger strike
Bangalore, July 23 (UNI) A group of 250 Tibetans in exile in Karnataka today observed a fast in the city to show solidarity with the group of their men who are on indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi since July eight.
Speaking to reporters here, Tibetan Right and Freedom Restoration Committee Chairman Lobsang said the time had come for Tibetans living in different parts of the world to launch a struggle in the line of Indian Freedom Movement, to bring the Tibetan freedom struggle to a new level and free the country from 'Chinese occupation'.
"In the larger interest of both the Chinese and Tibetan people the pragmatic and realistic plans proposed by exile Tibetan government should be accepted by the Chinese government," he demanded.
The committee also released a list demands which included restoration of democratic and human rights to Tibetans inside Tibet, allowing of Tibetan leader Dalai Lama to visit China and Tibet on a pilgrimage, to respond to the concerns conveyed on the recent sixth rounds of talks and to implement the 'proposals' put forth by the envoys of Dalai Lama.
