Sugarcane growers plans conference to press demands

Mysore, July 23 (UNI) Sugarcane growers in Karnataka have planned to hold a state-level conference to press for their demands, at Devanagere in August, Farmers' leader Kurubur Shanthakumar said.

Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Shanthakumar alleged that the factories failed to pay the growers, even after five months of procuring sugarcane.

The Karnataka Government had not announced the minimum support price (MSP) for Sugarcane. Farmers from across the state are expected to participate in it, he added.
