Somnath Chatterjee, K Rehman, Brinda Karat visit Shekhawat
New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson K Rehman and Mrs Brinda Karat were among the host of political leaders who visited former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat at 6 Maulana Azad Road, the official residence of the Vice President, today.
Other notable visitors included Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Mr Digvijay Singh (JD-U), Mr Tirlochan Singh and some MPs from Rajasthan.
Sources said Mr Shekhawat spent the day at his residence and did not go out anywhere. He had declined Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's invitation to join the dinner being hosted by him this evening in honour of President in waiting Pratibha Patil and outgoing President A P J Abdul Kalam.
Mr Shekhawat also stayed away from the farewell to Dr Kalam organised by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee in the Central Hall of Parliament earlier in the day.
Mr Shekhawat had resigned from Vice Presidentship after losing election to UPA presidential nominee Pratibha Patil on saturday.
