New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) The Supreme Court today admitted the appeal of Delhi government against a Delhi High Court judgement acquitting gangster Babloo Srivastava and his associate Nitin Gunwant Shah of the charge of murdering Delhi-based businessman Lalit Suneja 15 years ago.

The trial court had sentenced the two to life imprisonment for conspiring to murder the Delhi-based businessman, who had business rivalry with Shah.

Delhi High Court however allowed the appeal of Shah and Babloo Srivastava and set aside the trial court order and gave clean chit to the two.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices Tarun Chatterjee and R V Raveendran also issued notices to Babloo Srivastava and his associate Shah.

The Delhi government counsel contended before the court that there was sufficient evidence against the two respondents and High Court judgement is liable to be set aside as it will lead to total miscarriage of justice and the offenders shall receive wrong signals and shall feel encouraged.
