Rs 120 crore for power transmission in Yamunanagar district

Chandigarh, July 23 (UNI) In order to further strengthen the transmission and distribution network in Yamunanagar district, the Haryana Power Utilities plan to initiate various developmental works relating to power sector to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore during the current financial year.

While giving details, an official spokesman of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) said here today that two new 220 KV double circuit transmission lines are being erected to transmit power from the upcoming Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram (DCR) Thermal Power Project, Yamunanagar to 220 KV sub-station Jodian and 400 KV sub-station Abdulla Pur. The construction of a new 66 KV sub-station in Sector-15, HUDA, Jagadhri had been approved to meet the upcoming load requirement.

He said that the segregation of domestic and tube well load of 122 feeders of 11 KV level supplying power to rural area had been started. As many as 450 villages would be benefited with the segregation of these feeders.

Simultaneously, twelve lengthy and heavily over-loaded 11 KV feeders were being rehabilitated, he added. He said that the UHBVN had decided to develop Yamunanagar Operation Circle as the "Model Circle" during the current financial year and targets and completion schedule have been fixed for all the activities.

He further stated that the district would get nearly 12 lakh units of extra electricity per day after commissioning of the power generating units of the Yamunanagar Thermal Power Project. The Nigam had targeted to release 900 new tubewell connections during the current financial year.

It has also been planned to shift 600 non-domestic consumer meters having more than 20 KW load and 9800 domestic consumer meters out of premises.

The spokesman said that the Utilities energized 66 KV substation Gulab Nagar and augmented capacity of 66 KV substation Chachhrauli and Yamunanagar last year. High Voltage Distribution System and Low Voltage Distribution System had been provided in 11 residential colonies and villages. He said that 11 KV level independent feeder had been constructed to supply power to Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar.

He said that 95.39 per cent tubewell and 81.11 per cent domestic consumers of the district had availed the benefit of the Electricity Bills Waiver Scheme. The Nigam had released 7470 domestic and non-domestic, 1401 tubewell, 218 industrial and 146 connections to Public Water Works, he added.
