Rajnath exhorts yuva activists to man booths during polls

New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) Exhorting the youth to be alert towards national pride and become a symbol of "sophisticated" politics, BJP President Rajnath Singh asked the BJP Yuva Morcha activists to strengthen the party in each and every constituency at the 'booth level' in all forthcoming elections.

Addressing the two-day Morcha Executive, Mr Singh asked them to prepare an action plan to nurture every constituency as this would help them to pursue their programme and achieve the objective.

He said their politics should be guided by only truthfulness.

The BJP President made a frontal attack on the Congress for not doing much for the youth. ''The Congess which ruled the country for about half a century did not have any Youth Policy. It was only the NDA government led by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee which had brought about the first Youth Policy in the country,'' he noted.

Mr Singh said the Congress believed only in forming Governments whereas on the other hand, the BJP, wanted to build a strong society and a strong country. Criticising the UPA's ''appeasement'' policy, he said religion based politics would cause another division of the country.

Regretting the UPA Government's silence over Chinese intrusion into Arunchal Pradesh, the BJP leader said it was shame for a country like India when the Prime Minister described China as its biggest neighbour at the G-8 summit, instead of lodging any protest over the intrusion. If not the Government, who would protect the country's interest, he asked.

Mr Singh also cautioned about the increasing terrorist activities from across the border from Pakistan and Bangladesh and Maoism from Nepal.

Stressing the need for character building among the youth, he said it was unfortunate that the youth was ''either straying towards militancy in the name of Jihad or losing out their strength by falling prey to drugs and discotheques.

Speaking on the occasion, Yuva Morcha President Amit Thakar said that they were resolved to ensure that the party win at 370 seats in the Lok Sabha. Besides it would continue its campaign for abrogation of article 370. He said the Morcha had also resolved to enrol 50 lakh new members.
