Nothing concrete emerged on 'sleeper cells':Police
Bangalore, July 23 (UNI) The Bangalore police has drawn a blank on investigations carried out so far into failed glasgow bomb attack suspect Kafeel Ahmed's link with 'Sleeper Cells' of terrorist groups.
Talking to newspersons here, City Police Commissioner N Achutha Rao said ''nothing concrete had emerged from with regard to Kafeel's alleged links with 'sleeper cells' of terror groups. I cannot reveal the details,'' he added.
Mr Rao said the report on the high capacity hard disk, recovered from Kafeel's house and sent to Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL), was awaited. ''No, we haven't received the report yet,'' he added.
Sources, however, said APFSL could not find any evidence from the hard disc about Kafeel's links with terror groups.
However, it contained information about radical groups with which Kafeel was alleged to have been exposed to.
Sources also said earlier that APFSL had detected 'violent video images' and 'gory videos' in the hard disc with Arabic commentary allegedly featuring al-Qaeda leaders. Apart form the hard disc, Bangalore police had sent CDs and mobile phone allegedly used by Kafeel to APFSL and they were being scrutinised.
Kafeel Ahmed, an aeronautical engineer involved in the failed Glasgow airport attack on June 30, is said to be the driver of the flaming Jeep Charokee that slammed into the airport. He is battling for life in a London military hospital with 90 per cent burns.
His brother Sabeel Ahmed and their cousin Mohammed Haneef, both doctors, were also suspected to have been involved in the case.
However, they are yet to be charged. While Sabeel was arrested in Liverpool, Haneef was detained at Brisbane in Australia. All the three belonged to Bangalore.
