Nitish to gift Kuldevi's soil to Mauritius PM

Patna, Jul 23: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would present a unique gift to Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam which the latter could not have even dreamt of.

Mr Kumar is carrying the soil of the 'Kuldevi sthan' of the Mauritius Prime Minister during his visit to the country.

Mr Ramgoolam has his roots in the soil of a sleepy hamlet called Barhasinghanpura in Buxar district of Bihar where his ancestors used to live.

When the villagers came to know about the proposed five day visit of Mr Kumar to the country, they led by Pandit Vishwanath Ojha, called on Mr Kumar and handed him a packet containing the sacred soil of with a request to gift it to Mr Ramgoolam.

The overwhelmed villagers also urged the CM to invite the PM of Mauritius to his ancestral village on their behalf.

The Father of the nation of Mauritius, Sir Shivsagar Ramgoolam who lived in Barhasinghanpura village of Buxar district in his early days migrated from there.

Mr Ojha after his meeting with Mr Kumar said here today that it would be a great honour for them if the Prime Minister of Mauritius visited his ancestral village.

Mr Kumar assured the villagers that he will extend their invitation and hand over the gift to Mr Ramgoolam. He also promised to look into the infrastructural problems of the village.

Mr Kumar directed the concerned authorities to immediately provide all infrastructural facilities to the village and prepare a blue print for its overall development.

Mr Kumar is scheduled to leave tomorrow along with a delegation of offcials and cultural groups to participate in the celebratons of 'Bihar Week'. Apart from attending other official and personal functions he is also scheduled to address the national assembly of Mauritius.

Mr Kumar had already stated that he would invite the Prime Minister of Mauritius to unveil the statue of Sir Shiv Sagar Ramgoolam to be installed in the state capital.
