Nikkei down 0.9 pct as Canon, exporters fall

Tokyo, July 23: Japan's Nikkei average fell 0.89 per cent on Monday with exporters such as Canon Inc. down following a fall in U.S. stocks.

The benchmark Nikkei average was down 162.22 points at 17,995.71.

The broader TOPIX index lost 0.91 per cent to 1,759.99.
