Mayawati condoles death of STF jawans

Lucknow, July 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has expessed grief over the demise of Special Task Force (STF) personnel, who lost their lives during an encounter with dreaded dacoit Thokia today.

The Chief Minister has conveyed deep condolence to the bereaved families of the six brave STF personnel and prayed for peace to the departed souls.

The state government has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs one lakh to the seven wounded personnel in the incident, besides providing them best medical treatment.

A monetary help of Rs 2 lakh has been declared for the deceased informer, Ram Karan's family.

The STF team came under heavy firing near Banda, when they were returning with the body of a slain Thokia gang member, who was killed yesterday in Chitrakoot.

The deceased STF personnel includes, Uma Shankar Yadav, Ishvar Dev Singh, Rajesh Singh Chauhan, Brijesh Yadav, Girish Nagar and Laxman Prasad Sharma.
